ITunes 12.7 tosses the App Store out the window

For iPads, the update will add greater integration of the Apple Pencil, Drag and Drop functionality, a dock at the bottom of the display that makes it easier to launch as well as switch between two or more apps, new keyboard features, and more. iOS 11 also adds the new HEIF and HEVC format support, which will allow photos and videos to be smaller in size than before.

September 12 was a big day for Apple fans since iPhone X and its other models were unveiled.

If you have an iOS app, ringtone or book that are no longer available for redownload, "you can move that content to your iOS device while plugged in to a computer with a USB cable", Apple says.

APPLE has revamped its iPhone line-up with three new flagship handsets, including the most expensive in the company's history.

The company seems to be putting the focus of iTunes on music and entertainment.

While this change may frustrate the minority of users who managed their apps this way, it will likely come as a relief for the many who had become frustrated with iTunes' tendency to download iOS apps in the background, thus taking up internet data usage and system memory. In fact, the iOS App Store has been removed completely.

Just like the previous major iOS updates, you will be able to install the iOS 11 update on your iPhone or iPad wirelessly by downloading the OTA update directly on the device. As described on Apple's support page, a focus toward "music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks" means that you'll usually need to use your iOS devices to manage the apps installed on them.

iOS 11 was first announced at this year's WWDC and has been in the hands of those on Apple's beta program for some months now. Once users install version 12.7 they will no longer have access to the App Store from the desktop.

Other changes include a previously announced move for iTunes U content, which is now in the Podcast section.
