Many schools served shelters before and after the storm.

The district plans to use two of the three make-up days that are built into the school calendar, but Brotherton said because the governor declared a state of emergency, there is some chance those days will be forgiven.

Schools will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 14, while crews continue to assess damages and the community recovers from the hurricane.
