Rays players met Tuesday before a designated home game at Citi Field in NY and voted to travel back to the Tampa area after Wednesday's game against the Yankees to check on the status of their houses and belongings in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The Boston Red Sox will look to keep their momentum going after winning five of their last 6 games after their win in the opener on Tuesday. The Sox will play 15 of their final 21 games of the season at home. That will be the start of a 10-game homestand.

Christian Vazquez, who came in with highest home batting average in the American League at.373, had two RBI hits in the onslaught.

The five-run second inning started with Sam Travis, a September call-up whose ability to hit lefties could land him a spot on the playoff roster. Vazquez started it with an RBI single before Dustin Pedroia singled home a run and Betts tripled home two.

Betts added a two-run homer off Manaea in the fourth inning, then another two-run homer off reliever Raul Alcantara in the sixth. Jed Lowrie went 1 for 2 with a double while accounting for the lone A's run in the loss. The Red Sox rank eighth in the AL in OPS against lefties, a weakness they've tried to correct by getting more right-handed hitters going. The Red Sox will start their 2018 campaign in St. Petersburg, Florida against the Tampa Bay Rays. Their April 17 game will be free to fans.
