The fire was caused by a "technical malfunction", according to a statement released by Tomorrowland.

"With this official government decision and to ensure everyone's safety, UNITE With Tomorrowland Taiwan deeply regrets that the event in Kaohsiung City is cancelled", festival organizers announced.

He said a total of 22,143 festival-goers had been forced to leave the area in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Tickets sell out nearly instantly, and in an effort to meet demand, the festival is now held over two weekends with concerts taking place simultaneously in different locations across the world.
